Apple TV
What’s On TV . . . Whatever You Want
Apple TV really does mean just that. There always something great to watch on the TV when you have Apple TV. You can access just about anything and everything you want to see or hear . . . TV shows, movies, news, sports, photos and music right there on the widescreen in the corner of your living room. Wow, I reckon that really is everything.
Whatever you want to watch is right at your fingertips with Apple TV, your favorite TV shows, the latest blockbuster movies, even a photo slideshow, effortlessly and wirelessly onto your TV. You don’t have to think about how to manage the storage. You don’t have to sync the stuff from your iTunes library. . . . just click it and watch it. That’s more like it!
Apple TV is great for something else too . . . unstuttering. Okay, you might not recognize the word exactly, but when I say to you that Apple TV plays everything freeze and stutter free, crisp and clear you’ll know what I’m talking about. You can fast forward through the opening credits just like you can with a DVD, press pause for a bathroom break and freeze frame or replay your absolute favorite moments . . . again and again and again. Actually, in our house that isn’t necessarily a good thing – I can see it taking hours to get through some of our favorite funny movies . . . let’s just watch that bit again, one more time, oh it’s so funny, let’s see it once more! Yeah yeah, enough already, I’ve forgotten what was happening now!
You might think that something so mighty and powerful as Apple TV would need some sort of presence in the corner of the living room . . . think again. There’s no unsightly box propping up the TV or balancing precariously on a shelf “afterthought” . . . you’re sure it’s strong enough aren’t you dear, should I get a professional man in to check it to be on the safe side because if it falls off that’ll be the end of the world! Nah, nothing like that at all, it’s a small, quiet, inconspicuous and energy efficient box which actually fits into the palm of your hand, and when you’re not actually watching the latest comedy / baseball game or weepy chick flick, it will use no more precious energy than a night-light.
Did you see how diddy it is? Told you it’s not necessary to build a new shelf, but if you really want to get a handy man in then that’s up to you . . . .
Apple TV – Getting Connected
Okay, now listen to this part carefully because it’s extremely complicated and unless you have a degree in electronic wizardry you probably won’t be able to do it . . . NOT. This stuff is so easy, it’s childs play (no, you don’t need a handy man in to do this for you either . . . sorry). Okay, here’s what you do;
- Plug the powerchord into the power socket on the wall
- Connect the Apple TV to your widescreen TV with a HDMI cable which you will need to buy separately
- Sit down and watch Apple TV . . . that’s really all there is to because it works wirelessly using your Wi-Fi network, or, as I prefer to think of it . . . magically!
Duh, how easy was that . . . I reckon it took him around 10 seconds!
Navigating Your Way Around Apple TV
Apple TV comes complete with a rather sleek aluminium remote . . . an Apple remote! On this Apple remote you can cruise through the Apple menu and choose from movies, music, TV shows, podcasts, internet, photos and settings all with a simple click. It’s so simple and clear on your widescreen TV that finding exactly what you’re looking for will be a piece of cake . . . . apple cake maybe!
Apple TV and Your Home Computer – A Match Made in Heaven
Don’t keep all of your old favorites on your computer, share them with the rest of the household using Apple TV. You can share songs, TV shows, movies, photos, hell even your old home movies (make sure that they’re suitable viewing for the entire household) over the air and straight to Apple TV.
Fancy A Night At The Movies . . . . You Bring The Popcorn
Apple TV can give you instant access to all the latest blockbuster movies. You don’t have to wait until they’ve become so old hat that they’re on cable, you don’t have to stand in line to check out the latest DVD, very often these movies are available on Apple TV the very same day that the DVD’s are released. All you have to do when you fancy a night in at the movies is to check out the movies (either by title, genre or the top movies), watch a trailer if you’re not too sure whether it’s your bag then press play and you’re immediately transported to the movie theater. Rentals start from $2.99 and once you’ve paid for the movie you can watch it as many times as you like over the next 30 days . . . I know a couple of people who would really get their moneys worth in our house, especially if the movie had plenty of funny scenes.
Apple TV can also provide you with an unlimited supply of your favorite TV shows, and it’s so clever that it remembers your favorites and keeps you posted when there’s a new episode for you to enjoy.
There’s so much more to TV when you have Apple TV.
Great vid and he’s soooo cute . . . wonder how he is at putting up shelves!
